[LISTEN] Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood-Mary J. Blige

Wait...wait...whut!?!

The Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige is paying tribute to the great Nina Simone with her rendition of Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood. The song is from Nina Revisted: A Tribute To Nina Simone which is being released in support of the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? The documentary is intriguing, insightful, and also sad. Be sure to check out my upcoming review of the documentary.

MJB is the perfect candidate to cover this subject matter because early in her career she was misunderstood. I not sure how I feel about the arrangement of this version, but I don’t hate it. I’m used to Nina Simone’s version, but not here to knock MJB’s interpretation either. Check out MJB’s take on the classic song below:

Whut say you?
